About this role
As a Banquet Server at Hotel Celare, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property managed by Shaner, you will ensure quality customer service to guests during events and banquets. This role is central to creating memorable experiences for groups celebrating special occasions or conducting business functions.
Your day-to-day involves setting up assigned tables, greeting guests as they arrive, and assisting them with seating. You will take and retrieve alcoholic beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques, serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverages according to departmental standards, and anticipate guests' needs to maintain positive guest relations.
You will work alongside a dedicated hospitality team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts to meet the needs of the hotel's business operations, while maintaining food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and franchise specifications.
This position offers the opportunity to grow within Shaner Hotels, an award-winning hospitality owner-operator with a portfolio of over 65 properties across 14 states and four countries. By handling guest complaints and ensuring satisfaction, you will build skills that can lead to advancement in banquet operations or other hotel departments.
Requirements
- Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality preferred.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
- High school graduate or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
- ServSafe and/or food safety training.
- Alcohol awareness training (such as TIPS).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating at tables.
- Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques when specified on function requirements.
- Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
- Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.
- Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
- Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Set up assigned tables and retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements.
