This position oversees all aspects of event setup, maintenance, and breakdown for special events and group outings at the Fort Worth Zoo. Managing a team of event operations personnel, the role ensures seamless execution from initial planning through teardown.

Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating staff for setup, teardown, and support during events, maintaining equipment cleanliness and appearance, and inventorying supplies. The manager also develops detailed checklists and logistics plans for upcoming events, working nights and weekends as schedules dictate.

As a supervisor, this role hires, trains, schedules, and develops event operations staff while establishing safety protocols and managing the department budget. Strong collaboration with other zoo departments and vendors is essential for successful event execution.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Ability to work during events including nights and weekends
  • Intermediate mechanical ability
  • Basic knowledge in computer operation
  • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability
  • 1-3 years of experience in event setup or related management
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of event setup, operation, and breakdown for special events and group outings
  • Coordinate staffing for event setup, teardown, and support, including cleanliness, restroom attendants, bar and kitchen support, and greeting
  • Maintain appearance, condition, and cleanliness of all event equipment and facilities, reporting repair needs as necessary
  • Inventory event equipment and supplies, making purchases as needed and coordinating proper storage and transport
  • Hire, train, schedule, and develop event operations personnel, providing ongoing coaching and guidance
  • Establish and maintain safety protocols for all department activities, facilities, and equipment
  • Prepare and manage the department budget, monitoring employee time, attendance, overtime, and compiling monthly labor transfer reports
  • Develop checklists and logistics plans for events, including detailed setup, staffing, and teardown plans, and communicate them to department supervisors and staff
