Lead the Woodstock Café team at Bread Alone, a beloved Hudson Valley bakery and café brand in The Most Famous Small Town in America. Our cafés are busy, welcoming spaces where quality, hospitality, and community connection come together.

This is a hands-on leadership role where the General Manager works alongside the team during busy periods, supports supervisors and café professionals, and maintains strong service flow. The Woodstock Café also includes an important guest-facing property experience with front and back patio outdoor seating, guest flow, property presentation, and future property development.

We are looking for an experienced leader to support a strong team culture and keep daily operations running safely, consistently, and successfully. The café environment is fast-paced with changing service needs, requiring calm and steady leadership.

The General Manager will partner with Hospitality leadership to manage sales, labor, cost control, and profitability. This role offers the opportunity to shape the café experience and contribute to the growth of a respected local brand.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of management experience in a restaurant, café, bakery, food service, or hospitality leadership role
  • Proven ability to lead, train, coach, schedule, recognize, and retain a busy guest facing team
  • Strong, calm leadership in a fast paced café environment with changing service needs
  • Clear understanding of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and operational compliance standards
  • Experience managing labor, payroll accuracy, inventory, ordering, cash handling, cost control, and daily operating routines
  • Comfort reviewing sales, labor, waste, profitability, and other key operating metrics
  • Genuine interest in organic food, bread, coffee, hospitality, and community connection
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Woodstock Café operations to deliver consistent hospitality, strong service flow, and a welcoming guest experience
  • Maintain Bread Alone standards for food, beverage, merchandising, cleanliness, product quality, service speed, and café presentation
  • Oversee daily upkeep of the Woodstock property, including front and back patio seating, guest flow, and property presentation
  • Hire, train, coach, recognize, and hold accountable supervisors and café professionals
  • Create and manage schedules, respond to call outs and time off requests, support labor efficiency, and ensure accurate payroll review
  • Partner with Hospitality leadership to manage sales, labor, cost control, waste, profitability, and performance goals
  • Oversee ordering, inventory management, product availability, cash handling, POS and online ordering processes
  • Develop and reinforce SOPs, checklists, training tools, and operating routines for front and back of house execution
