About this role

The Assistant General Manager oversees restaurant operations, ensuring all menu items meet Swensons standards for temperature, packaging, and presentation. This role manages kitchen crew, curb servers, and supervisors to deliver quick and friendly service.

Daily duties include opening and closing the restaurant, directing crew assignments, and maintaining food safety guidelines. The AGM also assists with profit and loss management by handling cash, security procedures, inventory, and labor controls.

The work environment is fast-paced with exposure to extreme temperatures and a hot, damp kitchen. The AGM must stand and move for ten hours, lifting up to 30 pounds while operating grills and fryers.

The AGM inspires and coaches team to drive excellence in core operations, from shift accountability to cost controls. This role acts as a key partner to the General Manager, taking on additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a food service environment.
  • Legal right to work in the United States and provide proof.
  • Must have your own reliable source of transportation and be able to arrive to work on time.
  • Good oral/written communication skills in the primary language of the work location.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Positive, energetic, 'can do' attitude with the ability to work on your feet entire length of shift in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible work schedule and must be available on the weekends.
  • Basic math skills and basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, trains, monitors, and coaches kitchen crew members, curb servers, and kitchen supervisors.
  • Directs crew, assigns duties, and ensures quick and friendly service to customers and internal team members at all times.
  • Performs all restaurant opening and closing duties.
  • Ensures that temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, and service of all menu items meet operational standards.
  • Follows and holds team accountable to follow all food safety guidelines at all times.
  • Assists profit and loss management by following cash handling, security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, reviewing financial reports and takes action to resolve.
  • Inspires and coaches to drive excellence around core operations procedures on each of their shifts, including shift accountability, product projections, and cost controls.
