About this role

This role manages general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the hotel structure. As Chief Engineer, you will lead the engineering team in upholding brand standards and HHM core values.

Day-to-day responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, and supporting associates to ensure high performance. You will oversee diverse technical repairs such as sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures, while also troubleshooting kitchen equipment and repairing heating/cooling pumps.

You will manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors, and oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs). Maintaining accurate records of preventative maintenance on all rooms and equipment is essential, along with testing and maintaining life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience (or equivalent training) is required.
  • HVAC certification is required.
  • Other certifications may be required based on local needs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, push, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Willingness to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure performance in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
  • Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors.
  • Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.
  • Perform and oversee sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating/cooling pumps; install and program televisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance on all rooms and equipment; test and maintain life safety systems to ensure 100% operational readiness.
  • Coordinate compliance of service contracts and ensure all work meets local, state, and Federal codes.
  • Maintain building exterior and curb appeal while following EarthView sustainability guidelines; practice safe work habits per MSDS and OSHA standards.
