About this role

Emory University is seeking an Events Coordinator to join its team on a temporary basis, supporting the planning and execution of conferences, meetings, and special events for a school, department, or division. This role is central to delivering high-quality hospitality experiences within a leading research university environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities include interfacing directly with clients to plan events, conducting pre-event site tours, and recommending appropriate venue options based on event scope. The coordinator liaises with catering vendors, staging staff, and other partners, and oversees travel arrangements for attendees.

As the primary day-of-event representative, this role ensures seamless execution before, during, and after each event. The coordinator also tracks and monitors event expenses, and may oversee billing and payment processes, working closely with university departments and external vendors.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of Emory's academic community while gaining hands-on experience in high-level event logistics. All tasks are performed in-person at an Emory University location in Atlanta.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and four years of experience in planning, coordinating, and conducting special events, or a Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven ability to coordinate logistics for conferences, meetings, and special events.
  • Experience interfacing with clients to plan and implement events.
  • Familiarity with venue selection and conducting site tours.
  • Ability to liaise with catering vendors, staging staff, and other event partners.
  • Experience overseeing travel arrangements for event attendees.
  • Skill in tracking and monitoring event expenses and billing processes.

Responsibilities
