Join the team at the Renaissance New York Flushing Hotel at Tangram, the anchor of a four-phase complex positioned to be the epicenter of Flushing, Queens. This 208-room upscale hotel sits atop an 8-plex 4DX cinema and is flanked by high-end condominiums, a retail center with nearly 30 Asian-style restaurants, a beer garden, and an expansive 5,000 sq ft fitness center with an Olympic-sized pool.
As a Hotel Maintenance Technician, you will manage the physical operations of the hotel to ensure the total comfort and satisfaction of guests. Your day-to-day work involves checking and performing major repairs to refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
You will communicate with hotel departments to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests, such as working with Housekeeping on laundry equipment and room repairs, and with Guest Services on kitchen equipment and guest concerns. You will also execute the hotel's preventive maintenance program and maintain product quality standards across all areas.
This role offers the opportunity to grow within a premier hospitality property that provides free shuttle service to LaGuardia Airport and easy access to the 7 train. You will work as a member of the overall hotel team, maintaining a "can do" and "guests first" attitude to ensure each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations.
Requirements
- Must have schedule flexibility for AM/PM/Overnight, weekends and holidays
- Minimum of three years experience in a building maintenance department, including one year in a supervisory capacity
- Two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing
- Specialized technical crafts: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
- Ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- Ability to read blueprints
- Intermediate to advanced mathematical skills including basic math, conversions, and measurement such as weight, volume, and pressure
- Ability to carry and/or lift at least 50 pounds or more and push and/or pull approximately 200 pounds
Responsibilities
- Check and perform major repairs to refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems
- Communicate with hotel departments to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to requests
- Execute the hotel’s preventive maintenance program
- Maintain standards of product quality for all areas of the hotel as outlined in the standards manual
- Report deficiencies to the Chief Maintenance Technician
- Resolve guest complaints to the satisfaction of the guest, responding promptly to any guest request for service
- Arrive at work in a timely fashion in accordance with the posted schedule
- Abide by established uniform guidelines and attend scheduled training sessions as dictated by the brand and hotel management
