About this role
Scratch Restaurants Group is seeking an experienced fine dining General Manager to lead a new project in Downtown Austin. This dynamic role requires a leader with strong hospitality acumen and a passion for delivering refined yet approachable service.
Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing all operations, setting elevated service standards, and managing guest correspondences and reservations. The General Manager will take full ownership of site performance, driving sales while ensuring seamless dining experiences and promptly resolving guest issues.
This hands-on leader will collaborate with culinary leadership on menu execution and presentation, while fostering a positive, accountable team culture. The role also involves managing staff performance, attendance, and engagement to align with the brand's high standards.
Financial oversight is key, including budgeting, cost control, payroll submission, and inventory management. The General Manager will work closely with the corporate event coordinator to execute private and community events seamlessly, maintaining a professional restaurant image and compliance with health regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fine dining restaurants with a deep understanding of hospitality, guest engagement, and service standards
- Highly organized, financially fluent, and proficient in hospitality systems and technology
- Experience independently leading, mentoring, and managing a team
- Passion for hospitality and the ability to provide thoughtful, accurate, and precise service while creating lasting memories for guests
- Displays technology capacity including phones, computers, apps, software, printers, wifi routers, music systems, and security systems
- Strong food, beverage, and service knowledge aligned with elevated fine dining standards
- Open full-time availability to work nights and weekends, including holidays from 1pm to close; overtime may be required
- Possess legal ability to work with alcohol including valid all state/locally required alcohol certifications
Responsibilities
- Lead all day-to-day operations
- Set and maintain elevated standards of service and professionalism to ensure exceptional guest experiences
- Assist with guest correspondences and coordinate with Host/Maitre D team to manage reservations pre- and post-arrival
- Take full ownership of site performance and reputation by driving sales and ensuring seamless guest dining experiences
- Collaborate with culinary leadership on menu execution, presentation, and guest experience
- Manage staff performance, attendance, and team engagement while fostering a positive, accountable, brand-aligned culture
- Monitor budgeting activities, control costs, and analyze financial reports to meet business goals
- Oversee and submit finalized payroll and supporting documentation, and manage all FOH inventories
