About this role

Courtyard by Marriott and Block22 Companies are seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to drive seamless daily operations at our downtown Boise hotel. You will assist department leaders in delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring strong financial performance.

In this role, you will oversee front desk, bistro, and evening operations, performing hands-on duties such as check-in/out procedures and serving as backup for bistro and front desk staff. You will respond promptly to guest inquiries, resolve complaints, and maintain knowledge of room categories, rates, and local attractions.

You will lead and inspire a team of 1–25 employees, conducting shift briefings, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive environment that emphasizes compliance with Marriott brand standards. Your leadership will help create memorable experiences for every guest.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in hospitality or a customer-focused industry; supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Positive attitude, flexible, and team oriented
  • Proficient in IT; familiarity with Marriott systems (GXP, GPS, Quore) a plus
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs
  • TIPS & Serve Safe certifications or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Supervise check-in/out procedures and perform front desk agent duties, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide personalized recommendations
  • Support bistro operations, monitor food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction
  • Conduct shift briefings and pass-downs; monitor team appearance and performance
  • Train, motivate, and inspire team members; assist with onboarding and disciplinary actions
  • Submit nightly reports and communicate feedback to management
  • Ensure completion of required training programs (e.g., Marriott DLZ, TIPS, Serve Safe) for yourself and team members
  • Cover MOD (Manager on Duty) shifts as needed and maintain lobby and front desk appearance
