About this role
The Housekeeping Supervisor directly supervises and coordinates work activities of the Housekeeping staff in the hotel. This role ensures guest satisfaction by resolving complaints and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying room status, inspecting cleaned rooms using designated checklists, and updating room status after approving cleanliness. The supervisor also coordinates staff breaks, distributes assignment sheets, and ensures security of guest room keys and beepers.
Working closely with Room Attendants and Floor/Lobby Attendants, the supervisor inspects public areas, bathrooms, fitness center, pool area, offices, and service areas. They complete work orders for maintenance repairs and contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
This position offers the opportunity to conduct staff training and provide feedback on performance to management. The supervisor also participates in counseling employees and documenting pertinent information in the department log book.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year related supervisory experience.
- Ability to maintain complete knowledge of room status and prioritize tasks throughout the shift.
- Experience coordinating staff breaks, distributing assignment sheets, and reviewing priorities.
- Proficiency in inspecting supply levels of floor closets and checking Room Attendant carts for proper supplies and cleanliness.
- Ability to counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies and report disciplinary problems to manager.
- Skill in documenting pertinent information in department log book and completing night counts in accordance with departmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Verify room status on A.M. report; report discrepant rooms; prioritize and update status of check-out rooms.
- Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned Room Attendants using designated checklist and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
- Inspect public areas, bathrooms, fitness center, pool area, offices, and service areas after cleaning using designated checklists.
- Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Housekeeping Clerk; contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
- Conduct training of staff as assigned and provide feedback on staff performance to manager.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving; review status of assignments with manager and/or on-coming supervisor.
